Getting Started

How many sessions will I need?

This is our #1 most asked question. And not surprisingly, we really won’t know the answer to that question until we speak with you and get a sense of what your needs are. Of course our goal is the same as your goal, to get you into the workforce in a role that is the best possible fit for you. In some cases that happens very quickly, in others, not so quickly. With that said, we are sensitive to your budget limitations and will do our best to work within a timeline that is both effective and comfortable for you.

How much will career counseling cost?

Private career counseling is an investment in your future. We bill at an hourly rate and each session is approximately an hour long. We require a minimum of 4 sessions. Please contact us for further details.

Where is your office located?

While we are located in New York City and the suburbs of NYC, we conduct all of our sessions on Zoom.

Am I the most challenging client you have ever seen?

Many of our clients think that they are the “most challenging.” While to you it might feel like this is an overwhelming situation, it is something we assist people with every day. We have had many clients who have had to overcome significant obstacles in their job searches. While we don’t shy away from a challenge, we believe that you won’t feel as overwhelmed when working with a career counselor as you did when you were on your own.

Do you do therapy as well?

While both Nancy Leighton and Sarah Rice are licensed mental health counselors (LMHC) in the state of New York, we do not do individual therapy and therefore cannot create a bill for insurance. We do recommend a team treatment approach in many instances and either will work with your current therapist or give you a referral, if we feel it would be helpful.
